Doesnt even really pass the laugh test, does it? I mean, do we really think Saylor encourages other people to avoid DC taxes? What? This is Racine's MO. File big showy lawsuits against famous people and then watch them go down in flames. He should focus less on filing frivolous lawsuits against Mark Zuckerberg or Vladimir Putin or whoever else he reads about in the paper and do things that actually matter to DC residents.

The lawsuit seems a little implausible. Michael Saylor is a well known billionaire. People would recognize him on the street. If he was actually living here for more than half the year, it seems like a whole lot of people would know and it wouldn't take ten years to figure out. And he has a home in Miami Beach. I like D.C. and all but most people would consider living in Miami Beach to be far preferable to living here, and not simply because Florida doesnt have an income tax.

I know many people who have a second home in FL but work and live in the DMV. If they start cracking down, a lot of people will be selling their FLoria homes. Accountants tell people to buy a house in Florida to avoid state income taxes.

Nobody cares about any of that. What people care about is crime, specifically juvenile crime, and on that he has been 100 percent AWOL. Most of DC will be happy to see him gone.

It's also amusing how Racine makes what appears to be a rather mundane dispute re: Michael Saylor into a big to-do starring himself. These kinds of disputes turn on where someone spends their time and where they work. Just because someone owns a house in the District doesnt mean they owe income taxes here. They have to spend more than half the year here and/or work here. You dont need "insiders" or "whistleblowers" or even to sue over that. The tax department can just demand people prove they weren't in the District more than half the year, which you could do with things like credit card bills. In the hands of a media whore like Karl Racine though this is something you announce for some reason on Twitter.

And I don't disagree with this except that Racine's refusal to prosecute juvenile crime has been probably the most significant factor in the District's crime spike over the last year or two. The nutty Council is certainly at fault as well but the combination of the Council AND Racine has resulted in a complete sense of impunity for criminals and a demoralized police force that simply doesn't much bother. Will be so glad to see Racine go.

Guess one of those working girls he used to have on his arms when stepping out of the limo must have been smarter than he thought . . . .
