I'll definitely be on the lookout but I'd also like to throw in this data point:

DD had it a couple years ago (right before Covid struck) and it wasn't a big deal. It went through her daycare. She had to miss 4-5 days, which is of course a huge pain -- we had to wait until the spots went away, which is what took longest. But honestly, it was easier than a cold to deal with. She had a fever and was a bit run down, but it was really not that bad.

I'm still hoping she is now aging out of getting it (she's 5), especially since she's had it before, because I hate having to miss school right after we start.

Not PP, but I think it's fairly rare for adults to get it. My kids have both had it (at separate times) and I didn't get it. My husband had it when my first kid got it, but not the second time.


Adults and even older kids don't often catch it. Not impossible, but not common.

Yeah it just ripped through my 3 y/o's toddler class. Something like 50% of them got it (despite masking, which I don't think really helps in this case). Most were mild cases.

I got it a few years ago for the first time and it was hell on earth, no lie. Made worse by the fact that I was also caring for a baby and toddler with HFM.

Anyway, how much should I worry about catching this again? I have a 3rd child that's 18 months.

Not really - it spreads well among babies and toddlers who are too young to safely mask.
