Same. I think they get a bad rap, but they're not bad. I wouldn't get a major style, color, etc. or use them for a wedding look but in general they're typically fine.

I’m tempted to go to the lady at my sons barber shop.
Plop myself down in the chair with freshly shampooed wet hair.
My hairdresser would charge $60+tip for this where I’d get away with it being 30-40+tip at this barbershop.
Is it long one length hair or is it layered?

If you have long hair, let your daughter watch some tutorials for your hair type and then give it a try. You have room for error and can always go in to a barber if you don't like it.
Just make sure you buy real hair cutting scissors!

Just cut the front pieces yourself and ask your kid to get the back. Seriously.
I used to go get fancy Deva-style haircuts at $130 a pop. During the pandemic, I decided to try to DIY. My hair is just as good, if not better than when I was paying for expensive cuts.

Go to a men's barber. This is what I did before the pandemic. Then during the pandemic, my husband just trimmed my hair, since I want to grow it out.

My hairdresser in Rockville charged $150 for a hair cut.
I’m going to try a cheaper place for a trim.

Is the $30 really that important to you? Are you ok with getting a cut to fix whatever Hair Cuttery does?
If you really just need a straight trim, there are plenty of salon where you can probably get a $40-50 hair cut. But the person you already know is $60. Is it worth it to save that money? Idk.

Whatever you decide, if you just do wash and cut (NO BLOW DRY OR STYLE) it should be cheaper by at least $20.
