Both. They must take Algebra and 4 years of math IN high school. If they’ve mastered the material they can submit a transcript that shows the class or petition to their school for admittance into a higher class and to receive credit through placement exam.

Does a student graduating from MCPS have to take Algebra or do they have to take 4 years of math? If they have mastered the material taught in Algebra outside of the school system, can they start with Geometry?
