It is totally your preference. I think the tuxedo is ridiculous for boys and wanted something that he might actually wear so we got a second outfit. I could have done it cheaper elsewhere but did not bother.

He can wear a tshirt. It's like a mock turtle neck that is just a collar and bow tie. It covers the top of the shoulders too. Looks ridiculous in my opinion. They are very expensive to purchase as well.
