I think you're confused. 27% of MD students were proficient at Algebra according to the new test that was administered for the fist time after the pandemic. I haven't seen stats for MCPS specifically, but the test itself seems problematic especially since there's no baseline to compare to.

We will never achieve marked proficiency unless they dramatically change their approach.

Generally speaking, diversity (for whatever reason) means non-white (even when whites are the numeric minority). It sometimes is categorized/measured by socioeconomics—which I happen to believe is the better measure.

Yeah, I care a lot about equity but this tool is not designed for a state where the schools are funded at the county level.

That’s what I thought. And it’s countywide, not based on the individual school, correct?

All that means is the super wealthy taxpayers of MoCo skewed the percentage.

I mean, MoCo’s tax base is dramatically different than every other county in the state. Of course the less affluent counties spend more of their paltry taxes on schools—it’s because their tax base is lower.
