Current students' loans acquired prior to July 1, 2022 are eligible. My potentially imperfect understanding is that that dependent students will qualify on parents hhi (and if you took out any Parent Plus loans and meet the income qualifications you might qualify on their behalf). But the full details will be shared soon.

Why is it gaming the system? People will have to take out loans for the same reason people took out loans 5 or 10 years ago.

But, I think higher ed at public universities should be free, or close to. Like the SUNY system. This way, we don't have to scheme our way around loans and such. It's all BS.

IDK.. colleges are more expensive now than a few years ago. I would think they would be willing to forgive loans forever until colleges reduce their costs.

holy grifters, batman. If you're clever enough to come up with this scheme, you're clever enough to read the highlights in the news stories that it only applies to loans taken out prior to July 1, 2022.

I think it is only good for loans taken out prior to July 1 2022. Sadly, my son signed his load paperwork on July 7...

same question - DC applying this year to a college we cannot afford. Will have to take out a loan.

Wondering if I can take out a $10k loan for DC who is currently in college but has not taken out a loan as of yet.
