A B student in an IB program is similar to a B student taking APs. A strong student, but not the top. State flagships, except limited enrollment programs, should be good fit. Certainly at the next level state schools.

Did your kid take SAT/ACT? A strong score would help.

Does your school have Naviance? Could the IB Coordinator help?

My kid with similar stats was accepted at U of AZ and Indiana. Temple might also be of interest.

OP here: GPA is 3.4, we aren’t in VA so SCHEV doesn’t help, also don’t have counseling at HS (its a very low income school). Looking at: NC State, Rutgers, GA, UConn, etc - TIA

You need to look at Naviancefor your own school and ask how to interpret again SCHEV statistics. Only your college counselor can tell you this

Which flagship schools?
IB diploma is an asset--it's considered strong evidence of course rigor by colleges. What is the weighted GPA?

My DC is an IB diploma student but with a B average and average test scores. They are interested in the big state flagship schools but I can’t gauge their chances of getting in - on the one hand they seem low based on GPA, but if I look up acceptance rates for IB students at the same schools they are in the 60-80% acceptance range…..anyone else with experience with this?
