Interesting to note that--until recently--Cornell University used to get its Presidents from Big Ten schools. Cornell is much more like the typical Big Ten school than it is an Ivy. Other than Northwestern, almost all Big Ten schools have a college of Agriculture.

Northwestern considered joining the Ivy League in the 1980s, but decided against it due to travel distance for athletic events. Northwestern University is more like an Ivy League school than a Big Ten school. (Once Stanford joins the Big Ten, Northwestern will have a similar school companion in the Big Ten Conference.

Cornell University is a hybrid public/private school. Northwestern University is a private school.

Easy to get in Northwestern if you ED.

Several students from DC private got in and attending this fall.

I think you need to say which major for Cornell..engineering is much harder to get in to than than hoteling.

Northwestern for liberal arts and Cornell for stem

Just a thought…Cornell favors legacies and there are more Cornell alum in DC

Cornell is very numbers-based (test/gpa) in admissions, whereas Northwestern seems to be looking for particular types of students.

It's crazy popular at the DC privates and almost no one gets in.
Last year zero from NCS, one at STA (URM), zero at GDS. A couple from Sidwell but i don't know if they had hooks.

+1 Cornell has a hospitality school, that labor relations school which are all higher acceptance rates, but they're all Cornell, so people conflate them with Arts and Sciences which is more selective.

Which one (art and science school of Cornell and Northwestern) is more difficult to get in from top DC private schools? Thanks.
