Yup. And the social media billionaires know this. There's research to back it up.

I am happy to see your kid start school this week. Do we really need to see a documentation of the whole day??? I swear this one mom must have posted 10 posts and each post had 10 photos. Same for a birthday. I am happy to like and wish your kid a happy birthday. Yes, you had cute decorations. We don’t need a play by play of EVERYTHING at the party.
I love to travel. I usually love travel posts. Some people post multiple times per day for the entire duration of their trip. Do people think others want to see their every meal? Every single place that they go real time. They aren’t even interesting places.

Which is a lie because if that’s really what it was about, as a “diary” as many of them say, the privacy on the posts would be set to Only Me.
When my kids were very small I used Facebook more (definitely not as much as the people OP is complaining about) and posted more of their pictures. Now I get occasional reminders of those early days as "facebook memories" and I do like them and show them to my kids. Since we're so bad about organizing our gazillion digital pics, I do agree that these things work well as a Diary (as long as you don't mind all your personal info shared all over the Internet).

I think it's a bit much from a privacy perspective (I post stuff maybe 4x a year) but it's a nice record and now that I don't have babies/toddlers any more, some of her posts bring back memories for me. If you don't like it, don't read it.
