Bookstores? vintage clothing stores?

I second vromans, and the urth caffe nearby has such a charming Spanish style patio.
Old Focals is small but they have the most amazing vintage eyewear.

Burbank has a few thrift stores that sell clothing from movie sets. Like clothing that extras wore, so a lil grody, but kind of an interesting experience to peruse.

That is very cool, my DD will love it.

There are vintage clothing stores in nearby Highland Park. I don’t shop at those stores, so I’m not too familiar with how “with it” or “hip” they might be. But there are a lot of hipsters in that area.

The best old school coffee shop / diner is Shakers on Fair Oaks in South Pas. Think Pulp Fiction style Coffee Shop.

Cafe de Leche has a location in Altadena with plenty of outdoor seating in its backyard. Collage Coffee in Highland Park has some tables/chairs in an adjacent secret outdoor space accessed via a narrow alley.

In South Pasadena: Two Kids Coffee on Mission Street. Very hip, local coffee shop that can rival the ones in LA. It’s a beautiful space, and they have some interesting books on design and architecture in general.

In Pasadena: Intelligentsia Coffee

And take a short drive over to Highland Park for other hip coffee shops: Kumquat, Cafe de Leche, Go Get Em Tiger, Civil Coffee. Loquat Coffee just opened in nearby Cypress Park.

Further out, Stereoscope has a beautiful coffee shop in Echo Park on Sunset. And Maru Coffee has a nice location in Larchmont.

It's small enough that you will enjoy discovering these things for yourself quickly and easily. The library is wonderful.

Does anyone know South Pasadena well? I mean well enough to say which is the best coffee shop and bookstore? Where I might find things off the beaten track etc?
