OP here. Our aftercare only goes until 5, which is no help because work later than that.

So when will you ever see your kid?

Aftercare. It’s a little over a hundred dollars a week and worth every penny of stress:anxiety saved.

Nor will you ever have any luck finding someone.

We kept our nanny after kids started school. There is simply no other way to do outside activities or lessons without her.

We use aftercare. We also considered the bus but it was a 50 minute ride.

Just pick up? Not stay with them for any amount of time? Maybe see if there is another parent in you neighborhood that is going there anyway and ask them (and pay!)
Some parents (including myself, when my kids were that age) would not like this though--It would mean losing flexibility to stop for an errand, go to the park, have a doctor's appointment right after school, etc.
You'd have to pay me quite a bit to give up that flexibility.

We have a full time nanny who handles it.

Reliable after-school help is extremely expensive.

Are you just thinking about this now? You either use after care of daycare with transportation, or pay a sitter but after school sitters are like unicorns. We only need 3x a week and a friend with a kid at same school did it. ( we paid her) now we have a HS senior who does it. Found her at our pool, she’s a lifeguard.

Aftercare if you can’t find someone. Sometimes you can get a HS kid to do it but then you have a inexperienced and impulsive HS kid driving your little kid.

This may be a naive question, but what do you all do for school pickup? I just need someone to pickup my child in the afternoon. I am having no luck at all finding someone.
