You’re a good mom, OP. Maybe she’d like something in a pretty color or print- just something kind of fun for her.

Best wishes to you and you’re daughter for the teen years- it can be a bumpy ride sometimes, but they are so fun to be with as young adults.

I have two 14 year old girls. They both report that a large majority of girls wear bras or bralettes. They don’t think your dd would be teased for not wearing one, but she will be in the minority, even if she hasn’t developed yet.

If your dd is starting to develop, it’s time to at least buy some bralettes. You don’t want to realize one day that she’s at the point where she really needs coverage and doesn’t have any. Also, when girls are developing, the breast buds can be sensitive and it can actually hurt if someone bumps into you. My girls liked having some padding there.

NP but no this isn’t a problem. Nipples often show through even with a bra. Nipples are normal. I won’t force my DD to wear some foam padded/molded round boob shaped monstrosity bc of nipple fear. Unlined bras are much more comfortable.

7th grade is pretty late for not wearing a bra. Not to be crude but can’t you see her nipples through her shirt sometimes?

My daughter is going into 6th (starting middle school) and even though she is still pretty flat there were definitely starting to be days when things were showing. She started with undershirts/camis but quickly decided she preferred training bras. They don’t offer anything in the way of support, they just add a layer of fabric. She is happy to have them now that she will have to change (they have gym uniforms) so she won’t be totally naked in the locker room!

And I use the word brassiere, OP, because in my native language that's the actual word. I thought it was also used in English.

I didn't realize English wasn't your first language. Here, it's considered a very old -lady term. Our grandmas used that word. My grandma has been dead since 1994. Don't worry about your kid being The Weird Kid. Get her a bralette and put it in her room (Target is great for this, as is Aerie or Gap Body or Old Navy) and if she notices everyone else is wearing one, she'll decide to wear hers.

Nearly every girl in 7th grade will be wearing a bra of sorts. But if your daughter doesn’t want to that’s fine. No one cares. Yellowberry makes nice bras in various styles for young teens/tweens. As an A cup, I can even wear them

Firstly, even if you're 75, you should not be using the word "brassiere". Just retire that word.

Secondly, my kids said by the spring of 6th grade, EVERY girl was wearing a bralette whether or not they needed one, except for the one really weird girl.

Thirdly, she can just wear whatever kind of top they have to wear on gym days so she doesn't have to change. My DD got two white t-shirts and wore them all day. She didn't care because "Nobody sweats in gym, and anyway it's my 2nd to last class of the day."

I highly doubt she will be teased. Sport bras/bralettes are common. My kids have expressed zero apprehension about changing and have shared no stories about girls getting made fun of for their chest size lol.

At my child's FCPS MS, no one changed for PE. It was optional.

7th graders generally wear bras/bralettes/sports bras yes.

She could wear a camisole/tank if she doesn't want to wear a training bra.

DD is a rising 7th grader and new to her middle school. She will have PE every day and change in the locker room. She is very small for her age and barely starting to develop. Do girls wear brassieres at that stage? She says they're uncomfortable and she doesn't see why she needs an extra piece of clothing. On the other hand, I don't know what the social situation is like, and whether there is any undercurrent to wearing, or not wearing, such items. For the rest of the school day, I don't want there to be any show-through in the A/C, in case she gets teased. Her good friend only wears sporty clothes, with sport bras, and DD likes the cottage look.

Any advice is much appreciated. I know this seems like such a minor detail, but suddenly I'm wondering!
