My first DD was an IVF baby. She was born back in 2016, and I was given no restrictions on travel at that point. We were with SGF.

My second DD was a surprise conception after an FET turned ectopic. Due to the ectopic history, I was told not to travel until confirmation that pregnancy was intrauterine. After that, no restrictions.

This advice is outdated. Maybe don’t run a marathon the day or two after a transfer, but you can do most normal activities right away. I was back at work the afternoon of my transfer.

I have a SGF baby and was told no travel until the end of my first trimester. Now we are working with CCRM and they do not provide the same guidance at all. Not helpful, but I think you just have to do what you are comfortable with.

I flew home from my FET the day after transfer and as most ppl at my clinic were travel patients this was the norm. If flying after getting pregnant caused embryos not to implant, we would prob know about it by now!

I love this perspective from Nurse Linda: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9aVp912ddo

Ask your doctor but I think it’s just people avoiding regret. I had a complicated IVF transfer with ohss plus invasive tests and I traveled internationally around 14w. That transfer is almost 5 now.

They just don’t want you to blame anything on travel.

IVF babies have "precious baby" syndrome because you can't hop into bed to make a replacement. That being said, IVF is more likely to cause an ectopic pregnancy so I would stay put until the location is confirmed.

I'm undergoing my first transfer soon and am curious as to how others who have been through ivf handle post transfer travel and planning etc... I just heard from nurse that they advise against airline or long car trip travel in the first trimester.

I get the increase in precaution with IVF but am simultaneously a little surprised. My only reference is a prior non IVF pregnancy and there were no travel precautions aside from no plane after 36 weeks.
