We have done this trip - denver then drive to YS/Teton. I'd not recommend it. If you really want to do it, make sure your gas tank is full.

I’ve done it as well

Sounds like Yellowstone is the priority, so Rushmore just adds time and distance for a boring stop. Not worth it.

Denver to Rushmore is closer than Denver to Yellowstone. I think some of the posters need to look at a map.

Denver to Arches to Dinosaur Monument to Tetons to Yellowstone. Broke it up nicely. We took the east exit out of Yellowstone through Cody to head back to Denver. As PP said Rushmore is too far. That is another trip.

We just spent 10 days in Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, and Grand Tetons. Flew from DCA to JAC. Jackson Hole is very small but very clean, pretty, and user friendly. It’s 20 minutes from Jackson Hole and inside Grand Teton. We rented an RV in Jackson and toured Yellowstone and Grand Teton like that. Super fun, comfortable, and convenient.

Agree that Rushmore is underwhelming. The rest of that part of South Dakota is amazing, but it’s nowhere near Denver. For ten days from Denver, South Dakota would be pushing it.

I'd fly into Bozeman (connect from Denver) then do Yellowstone followed by Jackson and fly out of Jackson.

Or Bozeman - drive to Yellowstone, Drive to Glacier and out of Kalispell

I think Mt. Rushmore is too far away (possibly Cody too, but depends on your level of interest).

We flew into Jackson, WY (which is actually in GTNP and you get a breathtaking view getting off the plane), spent 3 nights at Jackson Lake Lodge, GTNP; 4 nights at Old Faithful Inn (YNP), and 1 night at the Wort Hotel (Jackson). More time in YNP and Jackson would have been nice. Highly recommend all the lodging, and both parks together make a great trip.
