I don’t plan to but I feel like I should do something for the poor girl who has to room with my DD. She doesn’t know what she’s getting herself into!

No, but if they are friends and you send a care package you could send something but not now.

No. Why?

Let your kid navigate their own relationships (though you can invite the out for a meal if you visit).

Seems weird to me - other than doing something like getting a goodie basket (like snacks, candy?) for both to share - or baking them a batch of cookies....

NO! This seems really strange.
And would then make the roommate feel odd if she didn't also bring a gift - which she likely won't.

Nope, but when I send a care package of homemade brownies or whatever, I send extra for my kid to share with their roommates.

Omg no, butt out. Your kid and the other kid will get along or not, but currying favor through a gift card will not sway the balance in a positive direction.

Nope. That's weird. Send a care package with homemade cookies. Tell your child you packed enough so they can share with roommate.

I suppose I’m old, but that seems . . . weird to me.

My mom never did this stuff, so I feel like I've got no sense of what makes sense. DC has been in a bit of touch via text, but that's the extent of it.

If you/your DC took a gift, appreciate any suggestions. I was thinking of a gift card to local coffee shop (no chains in town).
