You might consider asking for ultrasounds. My urologist is the one who flagged how much radiation I’ve been exposed to with all the X-rays and CT scans I’ve had over the years. She advised me to do ultrasounds whenever possible instead. It takes longer and it’s annoying because they have to really press the wand into your ribs, but it’s better in the long run.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Oh, I feel your pain. I’ve had 12 kidney stones. I guess the good news is once you’ve had one, things tend to move faster in the ER. I go in as soon as I have pain, explain my history, and get pain meds quickly. If you’re not regularly seeing a urologist, start now. I get ultrasounds ever 6 months to monitor for stones.
yes, unfortunately if you have had one, you may have another (at some point). I totally get it!!!!!
If you do have a urologist or helpful primary, you could ask for xray orders to get checked before your vacay....for peace of mind. Like PP said, we stone sufferers have frequent xrays. Reminds me I need to schedule an appt!!!!
