Drop off is crazy because of all the traffic on Carlin Springs. The teachers and staff working the drop off line are very aware of the traffic and don't want any delays. Say your goodbyes before you pull into the drop off line. Once your child is out of the car, the safety patrol kids walk younger kids to their classroom. The patrol kids are really kind. When our family was at Campbell, if the kids didn't take the bus, sometimes we drove to an adjacent neighborhood and walked a couple of blocks.

Definitely work with your child on unbuckling herself. She’ll get embarrassed when a fellow student patrol has to help.

What is drop off like in the morning? I’ve heard cars get backed up on Carlin Springs. What time should I plan to drop her off? She’s starting kindergarten. Will she need to be able to get herself out of the car seat so that the line keeps moving? And then walk herself in?

Morning drop off at Campbell is crazy- you should take the bus. You can’t drop off until 7:35 this year and yes, she should be able to unbuckle herself. There will be a million staff members and student patrols to help her. I get your nervous about your kid going to school but can you just trust that the school knows what they are doing- no school is having kinders find their classroom alone.

OP we are not at Campbell but typically the kindergartners get something to put on their backpacks that indicate they are a kinder. When they get out of the car or off the bus there’s a plethora of safety patrols and teachers who help them get to the right place. They will not be wandering the hall by themselves, which as a new APS parent is probably one of our fears! Typically they will send something in the mail or you will get it at open house – a little thing you attached to their book bag
