+1. If you don’t believe in childhood vaccines, you’re better off homeschooling

I vaccinated my preschool-age children but I think this is harsh. It's a new vaccine for an illness that is comparatively less dangerous in children. Whatever our personal feelings (I was excited to have access to the shots), public enthusiasm for little kid vaccines is just not what it was for adults.

Moreover, the situation has changed. In the spring of 2021 when vaccines were rolling out to adults, they were wildly efficacious in preventing most infection and transmission. It was clear that our children were MUCH safer around vaccinated adults. I haven't seen any data to suggest my little kids are particularly safer around other little kids who are vaccinated for COVID versus not.

My child's private school (preschool-8) in MoCo does not require for any age group. Staff are all vaccinated, but I don't think they needed to be coerced. My other child was at a different preschool that requires it, and we left the school because of it. Please stop saying that people who aren't rushing into this for their young kids aren't for childhood immunizations. That's just patently false.

Really? I wasn’t aware of the requirements. I thought the schools encouraged it but didn’t require it before it was fully authorized.

No, many schools required it.

Many schools in DC you mean? I’m not aware of any other public school district in the area besides DC that is requiring.

This is not a public school.

I was responding to the repeated assertion that "many" or the "majority" of schools in this area are requiring it. I'm sure some private schools are but the only public school district is DC.

NCRC just emailed that they are requiring the vaccine this fall. I am curious. Which other schools are requiring the covid vax for this age group (ie only emergency authorized approval). Their email also references that if you get an exemption, that you’ll be required to quarantine if the unvaxxed child has a close contact. Given that the CDC just changed their guidance, I’m quite curious what the quarantine period would be…
