Carrie joined a convent and was re-named Caroline/Sister Caroline - apparently Carrie just Carrie wasn’t proper or formal enough in 1915 for a nun.

I like just Jennie. There are just Kims, Beths, Tammys, Jills out there. Side note, my husband calls our SIL Jenny "Jenn-AY" like Forrest Gump, which makes me laugh. I also call my daughter Jenny Tremain instead of Johnny Tremain because her toddler ponytail makes her resemble a colonial apprentice.

I’m a Kate (not Katherine or Kathleen) and it’s really not a problem. Sure, I’m asked if it’s short for something but a simple “no” ends it. As a kid and at school is was never a problem and no one ever asked me if my real name was Katherine.

How about Genevieve or Jeanette?

I realize that this may make no sense, but Jenny looks more like a complete, full name to me than Jennie. I don't love the nicknames as full names but I'd use that spelling if so.

I do not like Jennifer and won’t name her Jennie if people say I have to name her Jennifer.

Jennie used to be a full name on it’s own.

I loved the name but don’t want my kid stuck with people asking “is that short for Jennifer?” her whole life.
