Glad nobody was hurt! We had the same thing happen nearly 10 years ago and State Farm was great. We had a check within a week that covered the cost of replacing both cars. We've since switched to GEICO because our State Farm agent died and we didn't like the new agent. So far, GEICO has been pretty good . . . but we haven't had another major claim like that one.

Ask the insurance company for their market analysis for estimating the cost of your car. Challenge them on the examples they use from local dealers and how they adjust for making the cars "similar" to yours. Fight them on condition (your cars are super clean) and provide documentation of any recent work done that makes them more valuable (new tires, new exhaust, tow hitch added).

Yup. Very possible the parts in yours are worth a lot right now especially. Supply chain has made finding them very hard for many dealerships and shops.

I just had a new car totaled and geico was very fair. They pull three comps to your current car and adjust those prices based on features. I think that’s where you could have some wiggle room- making sure they are taking into account all of the features of your car and the comps.

We had massive trees fall on our cars in a storm and both cars are totaled. Any tips for getting the most money from our insurance company? Not excited about having to buy a car in the environment with prices as high as they are. Thanks!
