It doesn’t. Tell the baby you’ll be back in the morning. Put the baby to bed and close the door. Don’t reenter until 6 am. The end!

This is horrible.

I’m a huge proponent of sleep training, sleep trained with CIO and night weaned both my kids right at 4 months. And I think this is harsh. Baby is used to eating overnight! She’s going to wake up hungry, and you’re just going to let her CIO for 12 hours hungry? That is harsh, and incredibly hard on the parents, and for no reason. Sleep easy has a gradual system of nightweaning so you know your baby isn’t crying out of hunger, just habit.

I’m one of the people who recommended sleep easy. It’s a quick read, you could knock it put in an hour or two, but it also directs you right up front that if you’re desperate, you can jump to chapter X that has the how-to.

+1 how does she fall asleep initially at night OP? The answer to that question will help with night wake up advice.

+3

This book has a great night weaning/sleep training system. Used it twice now with great results.

Growth spirt.. keep feeding her. It may last a few weeks and she'll get back to normal.

You have to stop feeding her. Try switching to water.

My 9 month old baby girl (my 3rd baby) still wakes up every 1.5 hrs/2 hrs every night. She starts whining which progresses into heavy crying if I don't give her formula. She eats about 1,2 ounces and falls back asleep, sometimes she would eat 3 to 4 but then still wake up 2 hrs later. As long as I feed she goes right back to bed, doesnt even open her eyes. She eats plenty during the day, a very good eater, my best eater of the 3 babies. Doctor didnt provide any specific advice, just said try to drop the night feedings - but how?! She is at a very healthy weight, otherwise super healthy (except mild eczema). What is going on with this baby? Why does she keep wanting to eat at night?
