HHI $600+ and this mentality is why you couldn't pay me to join one. Couldn't possibly imagine being stuck in a foursome with someone making $375k, what on earth would they have to talk about?!

375 and 600 don't live in the same world. You would have lots to talk about but what you are probably not talking about is private school for multiple kids. 1 or more vacation homes. Going on multiple expensive vacations a year. The issue is not with the 600k talking to the 375k. It is the 375k feeling comfortable in the conversation.

This is going to be different at closer in clubs with waiting lists versus outer suburban clubs with openings.

No one wants to talk to you about your vacation home or private school. Read an effing book.

We made 700k last year and haven't done it. My goal is to raise children who make it to adulthood without ever memorizing a member number to buy their chicken fingers poolside.

We are around $300k and have a social membership. We don’t golf. But our CC is quite affordable and many solidly middle class families are members.

We considered a social pool/tennis membership at $300,000 since we have a lot of friends who are members. We don’t play golf. However we already belong to a NVSL pool/tennis club and it doesn’t make financial sense to join a club instead, and then be required to eat there all the time versus other restaurants. We don’t have a need for using it for business meals, larger family meals or parties. If we thought we’d use the dining more, we’d consider it. Also the swim team isn’t as good. We do wish our pool club had a bar!

Depends on the club for sure!! There's variation.

Basically you look at your own budget, wants and the costs of the particular CC you are considering. It's not something someone could answer with a general HHI level needed.

I mean, will you use it? Do you gold, swim, play tennis, use a gym? We have a high HHI but it would be a waste for us. Someone with half our HHI who would spend a lot of time there and get a lot of enjoyment out of it, it makes sense.

Also the cost of CCs varies WIDELY.

At HHI is a country club membership reasonable?
