I don’t send GIFs myself, but I don’t mind receiving them. They are especially good if the whole audience/recipient list is going to get the joke.

I also agree with the use of the term cringe. Just don’t.

I love gifs. My kids sometimes do sometimes don't. Some of my friends use them a lot and some not at all--so I know when to use them and when to leave it be.

You have to "code switch" as the sociologists like to call it. The younger generation prefers an obscure set of hieroglyphics for communication.
