You'll pay more for a new minivan and there aren't a lot in inventory. It's not a bad idea, but make sure you get a feel of what'll it cost to replace it

Yes. The trade in for used cars (over 8 years old) is crazy high. Trade yours in. The new cars are also expensive. Yes, you will pay some cash for the new car, but can then use it for 10 more years. I doubt you can use the current car for 18 years total without issues (like need new tires, broken AC, engine, that kind of stuff).

We have an 8 year old, low mileage Honda Odyssey that’s serving us well. Dealer keeps calling and emailing us, offering to buy it back. The trade in value seems quite high, so I’m a bit tempted to trade it in for a new one. We will need a minivan for a good 10 more years, so wondering if this is a good time to trade in. On the one hand, trade in value seems high. On the other hand, the inventory of new Odysseys doesn’t seem great, so I wonder if the price for the new one would be unreasonably high. Any recent experiences?
