I only know Northern Virginia--9th grade is tough because the piblic high schools have tryouts around Nov 8 and green days will be starting soon, and those are important to attend. For 7th grade, there are year round teams at the AAU level if your daughter is very good. Start following girls teams on Twitter for open gyms and tryout dates. There are a few posted already. But if your daughter is not the very elite player, most in this area try out for their local travel FCYBL team. Those tryouts start at the end of Sept. it is volunteer run, so don't expect to see announcements until schools are back in and folks have returned from vacations.

Make sure to ask around too.

AAU teams post their upcoming events in social media (FB or instagram). They rarely do it on their website

Lots of teams doing tryouts in August, some did em in July. Follow all the local teams on social media and visit their websites. I have two boys who are looking at new teams as well. They are playing summer league with a team that will probably fold after this season and they will be trying out for teams this weekend and next weekend where I found out about tryouts via social media.

All the local leagues will be opening their winter registrations soon/now. Tryout for Select teams will happen in October and playing starts after that.

Plenty AAU teams are hosting tryouts

I looked at some of the usual basketball team sites but didn’t see any fall tryout announcements. Is it too early or is this not a thing?
