^While Natisri’s team was blocking sinkholes outside the cave, inside the cave a team of hydrologists and drillers pumped out groundwater and diverted streams, removing some 420,000 gallons PER HOUR from the cave.

+1. This was when I first realized what an awful person Elon Musk is. That poor rescuer that he maligned…the guy risks his life to save a dozen kids and Elon Musk defames him and calls him a pedophile

I went back and watched this — really good on more facts.
The movie didn’t seem to give enough credit to the navy seals advance work and the documentary didn’t give much insight to the remarkable work of the townspeople - who willingly flooded their crops and fields to divert water from the cave. Neither mentioned the ridiculous sideshow that was Elon musk at the time (publicly calling an expert cave diver a pedo).
It’s hard to comprehend how impossible this rescue was …. And yet. …

Just watched it - Wow! Somehow I missed that there was any sort of movie about this coming out, let alone by Ron Howard. Will go check out what Vigo did to prepared. Highly recommend the show - my 9 and 11yo were fully engaged.

Where can this be found? I remember this story and being glued to the updates. This was an amazing rescue story.

Rick Stanton’s book Aquanaut is an amazing account of this as well.

I’ll watch anything on this rescue mission. It still seems so unbelievable. This is an amazing story, well done by Ron Howard.
