Subject: LCPS - middle school sports?
My child is in middle school volleyball which is done outside of school. This seems to be the norm here (also not from this area originally).

Sometimes 8th graders can play up on JV teams for their high school.

Yes, that's the norm here. There are rec leagues (CLBL - central Loudoun basketball league) teams that have kids from 3-4 middle schools on one team. There's the MS House League and a MS Travel League.

Many of the schools have basketball teams, with outside leagues doing the selection, like AYBL.
