Lmao it did it to me too. I thought MCPS has always been nut free so now I’m surprised to hear that schools can make their own policy!

Same here but because we have been sending peanut butter to ES since day one with no issues - I didn’t know there were any. We don’t even have but free tables.

Are y'all doing this on purpose now? I'm pretty sure our ES has a allergy table. DS claims that the cafeteria offers PB/jelly sandwiches too- which I'm skeptical about but he claims it does not taste like sunbutter (which he detests).

There’s no need to be skeptical. MCPS serves peanut butter and jelly as an alternative lunch. Mcps is not “nut free” (to which my phone wanted to auto correct to not free.)

Ours offered those frozen Smuckers PB&J things. Definitely peanut butter.

We are just notified if there is an allergy in the classroom. It still does not affect what we can send for lunch just what can be in the classroom and kids have to wash hands after lunch. Our school has a nut free table and a special desk for one poor kid that must have severe issues. It is wiped down before he eats there alone

OP here- thanks guys! Doesn't seem like our school's admin is back yet but I'll call back or just ask at the K orientation later this month.

Call the school OP. Schools handle things differently.

Or check the school website- honestly if it's not stated with the back-to-school info I wouldn't worry about it.

Our MCPS schools have always had a "no-nut" policy for treats eaten/shared in the classroom, but no restrictions on what can be brought in lunches.

You might have to contact her specific school about it. schools have not free tables. Some classrooms found nuts altogether for snacks, some don’t even within the same school.

Do you mean like a policy about whether they can bring them in their lunches?

I think it's a school by school decision.
