Car is best way to shell black walnuts, but might be over kill in this situation.

I just tap with my meat tenderizer hammer? A car seems so…. Unnecessary

Do you only do like three black walnuts at a time or something?

Mini choppers and grinders aren’t expensive and you can buy one from Amazon, Target, Walmart, BB&B.

Sprinkle it on the nut butter or jam on your toast.

Or use a rolling pin if you would like to be less dramatic.

Add it to yogurt, cereal, shakes. Love that stuff!

Feed to birds? I don’t think your body digests them whole…so you aren’t getting much nutritional benefit from using them

Put the amount you’ll need into a ziplock bag, grab a meat mallet or hammer and dish cloth, go out to the porch, put the bag somewhere you won’t hurt anything, cover with dish cloth, beat the crap out of it until ground.

Can you put a thin layer in a ziploc, remove all the air, and drive over it with your car?

I just added it to muesli and yogurt w/honey.

I put it and chia in everything. They have no taste and add texture.

Mortar and pestle?

You can add it, unground, to things like loaves of bread, or baked oatmeal.

Do you have a high powered blender? If so, you can add it to smoothies and the blender will grind for you.

Or do you have a food processor?

If you can't figure out some way to grind them, I personally wouldn't bother to use them. I don't think your body can access the benefits (the omega-3 fatty acids) if they're left whole. Bake with it. Add to a cracker recipe.

Hi. Title says it all. I impulsively bought a bag of flaxseed. I don't have a grinder, and all the recipes I see call for ground flaxseed. Is there anything I can do with it whole?
