Keep the basic recipe but try variations that you make up. Something as simple as changing from red onion to vidalia onion in a meatloaf can change the flavor profile enough while keeping recipes simple and familiar.

I feel like if I find a good recipe for X, I just continue to use that same recipe over and over.

For example, "mac & cheese" means one specific thing to me, as does "meatloaf", "spaghetti and meatballs" etc.

I'm finding I'm bored with my meals, and feel like trying other recipes in the same vein might help with the boredom, but I've also chosen these specific recipes over time because I like them the best, or they're the easiest to make etc.

Anyway, I was just curious what other people did with standard issue meals like this.
