This is going to be big issue with getting EVs into cities. We live in a DC rowhouse neighborhood where only 2% of houses have a garage and only 50% of houses even have room in the rear "yard" to park a car. Most houses in our neighborhood would have to radically reconfigure their rear yard to accomodate an EV (eg, rip out their backdeck, remove hardscape features, pave over their vegetable garden, etc.)
We have no access to a charging station on our property and I'm not running a cord across the sidewalk.
The city really needs to build out charging stations on residential streets in the sidewalk median. If we had two chargers on our block, we wouldn't hesitate to buy an EV.
