^ me again - the only time I've had cheese by itself is when visiting fromageries in the Jura and the Alps - they hand out cheese slices for you to taste so you can select the winter or summer versions. Taste is different based on whether cows ate alpine grass or winter hay.

French person here. I've always been to restaurants in the US and France where they serve bread with their cheese plate. The last restaurant I went to in NYC last week had nuts and fruit on the cheese platter, plus bread.

Very weird. Include that in your review.

What the point? I love the little crispy bread things at La Fromagerie!

Were they available as add ons? Sometimes the sides are extra, though it’s weird to have none at all.

I’d be pretty annoyed if they gave me a piece of lettuce. I’ve been to restaurants that just give the cheese and I’ve been to restaurants that provide some side items. Sounds like your restaurant is trying to make it more economical for themselves.

They measure it to see how big it is.

You can buy it at a museum, I guess.

No bread and no grapes either? Not cool.

That’s weird but how weird really depends on the restaurant.

Please name the place.

No, that has not been my experience (although we of order the cheese plate it is part of the starters course). Typically it arrives with bread crisps or crackers.

I’d never return. Seriously. The bread is the delivery system of amazing soft cheeses.

That’s bizarre, that’s not a typical American thing that’s a shit restaurant thing.

We ordered a cheese plate at a restaurant (we’ve been there before with no issue).
5 curated cheeses arrive on a plate with some lettuce garnish. I asked for some bread or crackers and was told they don’t do that. Is this a new norm thing? Do we now just eat cheese solo? (I’ve lived in France and am more accustomed to cheese w a bit of bread at the end of the meal, but maybe that’s not how you do it here?
