Not all induction stoves are equal. I visited a friend who had one recently and hers was amazing and the controls were knobs and very intuitive.

Induction has always been subpar.

NP here, we love our induction cooktop, especially in summer!

Put inductio in our new house two years ago and we love it. I used to have gas but honestly, I don’t miss it. I didn’t find a huge learning curve; just learning a new appliance. It didn’t feel like I had to drastically change how I cook.

And induction is so responsive, safe and easy.
You can do it.

I'm in for the ease of cleaning. So tired of cooked on grease and crappy grates just collecting gunk. Hated our glass top stove we had in our previous home - so hard to clean.

We're still figuring out what cookware to get. Does anyone have recommendations? We're looking at an all-clad set, but haven't gotten far.

OP here. Mostly finding the right temp and needing to push multiple buttons eat time. And they weren’t real buttons - just touch here on this flat area. Like first the grilled cheese wasn’t cooking enough, then it was burning, then not cooking enough again. And adjusting the temp felt a lot harder than just turning a knob slightly.

I’m in VA - I haven’t heard anything about it becoming illegal to have gas, and new construction definitely still has gas.

So far its kosrly ancity thing. And DC is pondering it. Of course some states are pushing back with anti ban legislation. Not clear where VA stands yet.

This is how I feel about the electric gas cooktop at our beach place. Too cold then too hot, never predictably so. I’ve had pretty good luck with induction burners that have you set the actual temperature in degrees. Not sure if the ranges let you pick 379 or 253 degrees (for example).

We got it about a month ago. There's definitely a learning curve, but it's much better than regular electric. I expect that within another month it will go better than gas!

Just for value of the remodel, I would go with induction. Gas is going to be phased out (it's starting to become illegal for new construction) and a lot of people are worried about the health effects.
What you need for induction is really good cookware. We upgraded our cookware at the same time as going over from gas to induction and found it so much easier.

It does take a tiny bit of practice, but you can do it! I am a life long gas user and swore I would never switch but now I LOVE my induction.

Recently stayed with family for a week out of town and they had a new induction cooktop. I've been cooking with gas for 15 years and I just couldn't get the hang of it. I know I was only there a week but I only made easy things like pasta or rice or grilled cheese for the kids and it was SO FRUSTRATING.

There seems to be so much hype about induction and we are literally on the verge of a kitchen remodel, but I'm thinking of just sticking with gas. Am I just too old to learn new things?
