No. My children are just at the age where they unbuckle themselves and open their own doors. I assess the situation and tell them which doors they may open and every single time I ask them to open it carefully and slowly. Depending on the parking spot, sometimes I make them get out of a door I am holding or I only let them exit on one side of the car.

They will gain better sense of space and make their own judgements in time - but we always avoid touching the other car.

I had some man scream at me for gently touching his car with my door when he had clearly parked crookedly over the line in the Home Depot parking lot. I was 9 months pregnant and literally could not get into my car.

If someone parks crooked or over the line such that it blocks my access.. I always let it swing HARD.

I appreciate the feedback.

I definitely try to not do it, but sometimes I find it’s necessary. (I parked on an incline, it’s windy, I have things in my hand as I exit, there isn’t a lot of space between cars, etc.)

I would much prefer someone gently touch my car door than potentially ding it because of a wayward door.

Of course. If the other car didn't park squarely in their space, it's sometimes necessary. But very, very careful when doing so.

Placing my car door on the other car door seems like a bad idea. I always put my hand between them.

Yes, when very windy or not much space between. Allows the door to be controlled.

You have never heard of this happening?

Of course I've heard of this happening - my car is evident that there are a sh*t ton of lazy and inconsiderate people. But it's entirely preventable if you spend a teeny tiny bit of effort.

No, I don’t let my door physically touch another car on purpose. Ever.

Yes. And I’ll put my hand between my door and the other door.

Sorry…..that should read, “…to keep it from slamming.”

Yes, especially on my kids doors if I know they’d otherwise swing it open gleefully and unaware and cause a dent

I’m trying to see something.
