There are just too many restaurants with A scores. If I see a B rating, I walk right back out.

Well, they say the safest time to fly is after a plane crash because everyone is more concerned about safety. Maybe a similar path Is happening at the restaurant - after that grade they are trying hard to do better?

+1, can confirm, have worked in restaurants.

When the health department starts making visits people start calling the other places in the area saying her health department here. So basically most places operate on a C level all the time and the ones that have an A probably were just lucky enough to get a call first.

Real talk - I wouldn’t eat raw food from there, but a biscuit with a piece of fried chicken on it? Serve it up.

Meh. My own kitchen would probably not pass.

Most places around here don't post any grades, at least that I can see. I would assume you have had worse in the DC area.

Meant far more lax on the night shift!

You know that they will be coming for a reinspect w/in 2 weeks in most states after a poor exam. Super nasty.
You don't get this by leaving a door open or having a fly

I'm this PP. I'm dying at the PPs saying it isn't a big deal. And the "they're improving" OMG you have no idea how nasty a D or C restaurant in NC/SC really is. NO IDEA. SO FRICKING NASTY. I was in the business and would not knowingly eat at a B. You have to be soooo nasty to get a D or C

LOL at not a big deal

They’re improving!
Knowing it’s a C is meaningless without context. Is C average and almost all places get a C? Or do most places get A/B and C is really bad? Do they include things like not leaving the back door open or other non-cleanliness things?

Post 07/30/2022 20:46     Subject: I ate takeout at a restaurant with a C health score

I’m visiting family in a state where the health department issues Grades for the health scores. Our first morning here, our friends picked up a variety of biscuits from a local restaurant with a drive through. They were the freshest, most buttery biscuits I ever had. They had two sizes with a variety of options from plain to chicken filet, to sausage to smothered with gravy. The Small sizes were normal and the large were bigger than my hand.

Fast forward to this morning as we leave early tomorrow. I found the name and location of the place and placed my order in the long drive through line. As I got to the window where I saw posted they had a 73 “C” grade. To make matters worse, the previous grade was a 63 “U”. I didn’t happen to notice the dates of inspection.

I took everything home and everyone ate breakfast greedily down. Yes I went ahead and ate, but I didn’t tell my husband. No one so far has gotten sick today nor last week, but I wish either our friends told us or they posted it at the place where you place your order.

I hope nothing hits on the long drive home, but I just feel ick!
