Truly stellar? You are way more optimistic than I am.
I predict it will be a hot mess at least for the first 2-3 years and then hopefully it will settle down and be ok.

I’m super excited for the new school. It has all of the makings to be truly stellar. DCPS and the CWG just have to get the launch right in order to not set things back a few years.

One of my hopes is for him to have some friendships that stay together from
MS to HS, but if all the Hardy families are going to opt out, then I may make a different plan.
I promise you this won't be an issue. My kid traveled from east of the river to Hardy and then to Wilson. You just do what you have to do.

Some Hardy parents will send their kids to privates and charters. The new school will be just as good, if not better, than Wilson/Jackson, so I doubt it will be a much larger number than currently doing it.

Where are you now that you are trading in for Hardy?

Here is a different POV -
Go rent IB for Hardy. Embrace it - it is a great community.
By the time your child is ready for HS there will be a lot more info. And if the new HS hasn't gotten the kinks out - find a cheap short term rental IB for Wilson for 3 months. Register your kid and move back to your apt in Glover Park.

Funny because the March thread about MacArthur had a lot of people excited about sending their kids there.

Agreed. No one knows. My kid went to Deal and of his 10 person friend group, not a single one is going on to Wilson/Jackson Reed.

They're headed to Walls, Catholics, privates and Maryland publics.

I never could have predicted this in 6th grade.
