Currently posting from Lollapalooza with my 15 yo and 2 of his friends. I'm glad to have the experience of going to this concert with him and to be able to talk through some safety/ security issues as they arose (from people offering drugs, mosh pits, pot smoke being blown in face, someone passing out next to us at Metallica). I do think after this experience together, I feel confident in him navigating the next concert on his own and I will thankfully never be subjected to heavy metal music again.

I was thinking no way but then remembered that I went to the George Michael concert alone with my BFF at 14. I wouldn’t let them go to a music festival but a concert at Fed Ex would be okay.

I went to see Bruce Springsteen “Born in the USA” tour at 14 with my best friend. What a blast! I would let them go!

I’d insist on going with them — but only because I wouldn’t be able to find an adult to see The Weeknd with me. So yes, I’d let them go alone.

My parents let me go to a festival out of state at 16, overnight…Different times, plus they were naive.

Anyway, I think this is fine, especially if you’re right there to take them home.

At 15, I went to see Janet Jackson with a 15 yo friend in matching outfits.

My mom dropped us off at the stadium, and picked us up (pre-cell phone!) at the allotted time, at the allotted place.

The earliest I went to a concert without a parent was 10, with a friend, a 14 yo cousin, and a 17 yo cousin.

What do you all think happens? Are your kids not responsible? Do they not follow directions?

Would totally let my 14 and 16 yo boys do this. 16 yo went to The Anthem for a concert with friends recently.

OP here, and thanks to those of you who responded! We can location track, and kids are responsible with phones. Will check on a wireless charger, that's a great idea.

1 - if you can send a wireless phone charger do it. Phones will die.
2 - when they exit the arena everything looks the same. have some specific agreed to marker for meeting
3 - have a bunch of water bottles in the car for them for after the concert

I would be fine with it, but I’d require location tracking and hourly text check ins.

The Weeknd - concert is tomorrow. I'm clearly not as on top of this as I should have been. Kids are responsible and level-headed.

Who’s performing?

Thread title says it - this is ok, right? Venue is Fedex Field, and an adult will stay in the general area, but not go into the venue for the concert.
