Yup. I would do Charleston instead. Or Franklin, TN

Savannah Georgia is a great place for a solo woman.

The SCAD museum/store is worth a visit. There is a free shuttle bus that is available throughout the city.

+1 We go pretty often to visit family, and this summer so many of the squares were just overrun with homeless people

Great train museum and outdoor children's museums.

We loved taking our kid there when he was little. No need for a car. You can uber out to Tybee for $20-25.

Thought OP meant alone, sans kids, by "solo mom getaway." OP, can you confirm?

I went to Savannah alone and had a good time. It was during a COVID surge so I didn’t go inside anywhere. But there was enough to see outside. My reaction though was that if I was there with friends or a husband and willing to go inside it would be way more fun. There are all these restaurant and galleries and shops.

I’m not sure I’d stay at the Westin. It’s kind of in a weird location.

I love Savannah and think you'd have a great time. The ghost tours are a lot of fun. (On top of everything else being nice.)

Actually, I would call Georgia a purple state these days. Go there over Florida & Texas any day. Go Stacey!!!

There is currently a 6-week abortion ban in GA; that may (hopefully) change in time, but right now GA hates women.

Keep in mind that is hurricane season. I would only book a refundable hotel.

It's very doable. The historic part of the city is very walkable. Lots of good restaurants. There is also a ferry to Hilton Head.

Looking at early October, flights and hotels are more reasonable than other urban areas (looked at Providence and Boston--in Sept not October though). Don't really want to rent a car unless just for a day trip somewhere (don't want to worry about city parking) so walking to food/sights a must. Thoughts?
