Our summer coach is a Machine coach too. Looked into it last year but the price was 3x more than some of the smaller clubs. Also the practices are 90 mins 3x a week and that was too much imo for a 10yo. We went with a more low key team that also practices at Fairland.

The current head coach has been there for 7 years. Was this a long time ago?

No, this past year. Impacted several 8th graders I know. Is that a Junior or senior group?

I don’t know who you are referring to but the head site coach coaches the senior groups. He’s been there for a while.

I can't speak for that Machine location, but we've had our kids in both York and Machine. IMO, Machine has much better coaching, and my kids really appreciated the dryland add-on to the end of practice. The email communications are also extremely clear and the program generally is well-organized. My kids have done a few 1:1 lessons at the Machine Performance Center too, and that's a nice perk. Most of the other swim clubs don't offer that option.

I have heard from swimmers who were at several other clubs and they say Machine was far superior. I'd send my son there but it's just too far for us.

We looked at the Machine Senior program at Fairland about 4 years ago. it seemed that they were not that fast and they would have to practice in CP at least once or perhaps 2Xs a week.

From what the other moms (multiple members from our summer team swim there) the focus is more on what is best for the swimmer. We had an evaluation with the head coach and he made some solid recommendations on next steps. They are not crazy competitive - they focus more in a good balance and on strokes. The coach seems to be more interested in developing a passion for the sport.

Our summer coach is also a Machine coach and the instruction was amazing. My child learned a lot and in checking with some.of the other families, the winter coaching is just as solid.

This will be our families first year, so I am solidly going by recommendations from other parents (and my conversation with the coach).

That all sounds good. What do you mean by more focused on building up the swimmer?

I've heard great things about Machine from experienced swimmers and their parents on our summer swim team. It's definitely a program we're considering if/when our kids want to ramp up swimming.

Know at least 1 kid in the group - nice kid, switched from a larger club and definitely has improved overall and family seems pleased. Smaller site of a medium to large club that is VA based so for PVS Open meets you will often be in VA. Would assume many kids know each other since it's a small site (good or bad depending on your kid).

Thank you! I have a positive impression of the coach. That is good to hear.

Any feedback on the senior groups at Machine? We are looking at the Fairland location but would be interested to hear about Machine in general.
