Monkeypox is not "constantly circling the globe."

The concern is that the rate at which cases are showing up--that are clearly not connected to one another--indicates community spread, which is not something that has been seen before with this virus.

That is why public health officials are trying to use ring vaccination to prevent additional disease in contacts of cases.

Now I have explained it, but you will still have complaints. Carry on.

It can also spread by respiratory droplets and on fabric that touched infected skin. You could imagine it spreading easily in, say, a daycare or hospital.

But I agree that it doesn't seem to be fatal for many. Unpleasant, yes. Does it scar like small pox?

How about the swimming pool?

I'm not worried and don't expect it to have a big footprint unless a new mutation makes it communicable through casual contact. Theoretically, it could spread by droplets or fabrics but it sounds like that is rare.

I am not scared of it as an illness. What I am "scared" of is the super long quarantine period because I have small kids.

Nah, we've just decided to go free market on all these diseases; if you get sick, you get sick and are responsible for all the medical bills. Chose wisely.

I’m just waiting for Fairfax county to go crazy with restrictions since they can’t control Covid precautions anymore.

Why is monkeypox a global "healthcare emergency"? People aren't dying from monkeypox. There are no lasting effects. In the pictures taken here in the US, there are just one or two blisters in a man's beard.

Aren't there all kinds of viruses, bacteria and fungal infections constantly circling the globe? Is just circling the globe enough to call this an emergency? Seems like a global drag more than a global emergency. Please explain the concern and the rush to scrounge up vaccines. I don't get it.
