Oh, silly. That had nothing to do with Youngkin and everything to do with Covid effects on businesses. Meanwhile, Maryland dropped from No. 12 to No. 27.

"Virginia saw its ranking drop considerably in the workforce and economy categories from 2021 to 2022, according to CNBC. The cost of living in many parts of the state has made it harder to attract and retain workers."

Discovery didn't leave Moco for Nova. They left Moco for Nashville and NYC. Amazon had already pre-determined their move to Arlington and tried to leverage MD and DC to sweeten VA's deal. Crystal City has excellent size and infrastructure bones from its pre-BRAC days, a no-brainer for Amazon to swoop in.

Agree. But NoVa certainly is attracting more corporate headquarters than Maryland or MoCo. Not even close.

Most of those headquarters are around the defense contracting space. Nova has that locked down with proximity to the Pentagon, CIA, and other recon agencies. When the big boys come (Raytheon, Boeing, Northrop Grumman), the subs come too. AWS is there because of the data centers, and they have their subs/support. A lot of this was set in motion years ago. Defense and data centers.

DP.. also, businesses like to be near airports. NoVa has two. It's why Amazon originally wanted HQ2 also in NYC. If you look at the site they chose, it was very close to LGA, I think. Same for the Arlington site.. it's right next to DCA.

Huh?

Are saltines on sale at Giant recently? Sorry if this is a sore subject for people who've been here longer.

I'm a bit disturbed to discover just how bad job growth has been in the county over the last 20 years. This will absolutely influence how I vote in Nov. This needs to be reversed immediately.

Disturbance noted.
Another Cox sucker?

Interesting that you’re both “newish” , and voicing your concerns about something that “needs to be reversed immediately “ on a forum like this.
Robert Dyer possibly shares some of your concerns.
