Seems like that will be hard to find in the Maury zone as well.

People are telling you to do the lottery first. If you get into a school you like, it might be in a more affordable area that you can then move to.

If that's your budget, you can get a nice house in MtP and have a schools feed all the way through HS. You cannot get that on the Hill. You could also look at Glover Park for that budget but will not get metro accessibility.

So true. I'm really glad we gave Langley a chance, it's been great. I wish we could afford a full-size house in Bloomingdale but the area has become so expensive.

I'd really give the lottery and some of the decent public schools a shot before you get too emotionally attached to the idea of moving. I never in a million years thought we'd stay in our neighborhood (Eckington) as long as we have but we've really loved our local elementary (Langley) and our kids are now 2nd and K. We'll probably move before the end of elementary school but we ended up here a good five years longer than I thought we would.

I think 4 bedrooms with that budget is going to be a stretch, tbh, but Mt Pleasant is probably what I would target as well.

Inspired Teaching, in Edgewood. It goes through 8th so you'd be set for a while, and I absolutely love the neighborhood.

If I were you I'd wait until the PK3 lottery and see what you get. If you get into a nice school that goes through 8th, maybe just move near to it.

I would suggest Maury or Ludlow-Taylor, planning on Stuart-Hobson (or ITS or Latin or Basis) for middle, and figure out high school later, hoping for Walls.

People do lottery into ITS from where you live.

Currently have a toddler in Columbia Heights but looking to move by around kindergarten for better schools. We like the city life and would like to stay in an area where we can walk to shops and restaurants (though doesn't need to be as hustle bustle as CH, just not a Chevy Chase type situation). Ideally would get a 4 bedroom to make room for an office and an au pair room, but could still prob do 3. Budget would be about $1.2-$1.4M. Mt. Pleasant and Cap Hill are currently on the list, but wondering if we'd just have to move again for middle school/high school on the Hill? Any other suggested areas? Guess we would be open to WoTP as well, just don't want to be dependent on driving for everything, plus the budget concerns.
