This is where we stayed last spring, although in the Sheraton. It was a great location for the Franklin Institute, which was our main destination. We also walked past the Love statue, through City Hall to Reading Terminal Market. This was all during the day. We didn't go out at night (young kids).

Either is OK, the area around the convention center can be a little dodgy the same way it is in DC.
