You dog literally licks its own ass -- literally -- and you let them eat off of your fork, then put the form back in your own mouth??
This!!

Okay, but it’s not unsanitary, that’s just your mental illness talking.

Mental illness? No, it's just the way I was raised. The dog had its bowl and we humans had our own plates, bowls, cups etc. Sharing them with the dog was just something we never did.

Yep, been doing this for years (on an occasional basis - maybe once every few weeks if I have something they might want a bite of) - and I’m still alove to tell the tale. 😂

No, it won't kill you but it's still wrong.

A homeless person who may not have showered or brushed their teeth for a few days is most likely still cleaner and more hygienic than your dog and I wouldn't share my fork with them.

If they go in the dishwasher after, I don’t see the big deal. I’m not a dog person, not really a fan, but don’t see an issue with this.

Some people think germs are magical things and like the “cooties” of our childhood, will transfer untold horrors if they share dishwasher space. It’s stupid.

Therein lies your problem. You are not mentally sound regarding this.

I think it's gross to let dogs eat from your fork/plate when you're still eating. But using the same washed plates and utensils? 10000% fine.

I mean, do you ever eat at restaurants? Do you know how many thousands of random human mouths that fork has been in?

Yet, you're still alive and well.

Some people think it’s cute to become one with their little furry mates.

It's insane to be worried even a small amount about this.

So, My puppy obviously has her own food and water bowl which we use 99% of the time to feed her. I wash them with soap and water separately to keep clean. However, sometimes, maybe 1-3 a year, I may use one of my own "human" bowls to feed her water or fruit or something. In those cases, I put the bowl in the dishwasher to clean.

It has been brought to my attention that this is unsanitary and unclean. I was surprised as I am a germaphobe and I am horrified that my understanding that the hot water and detergent of the dishwasher would not suffiently clean the utensils touched by my dog.

What do you guys do?
