If anything, this move may gain Maryland new residents and tax payers, not drive them away.
There is zero chance that Maryland will be more attractive to substantial taxpayers unless the current TP crowd gets real.

BTW, I voted for Blair and Perez. I thought about moving to NoVa (I wfh permanently), but I'm gonna now wait to see how VA ends up with Youngkin and the future.

Um, a lot of people are leaving or want to leave. Our friends and their 200k remote HHI escaped Gaithersburg and relocated to Fairfax, where they enjoy kind, non judgmental neighbors, safety, and lower taxes.

Just more pressure to build bridges to Virginia for work as folks seek cheaper housing (and convince themselves MCPS is still that once great public school system of decades ago). Otherwise the same trajectory of Venezuela on one side and Austin on the other will remain. My bet: this delta will stay the same or slightly accelerate.

The tax base is already leaving Montgomery County. Don't know about the state.
"For the five years from January 2016 through December 2020, the county actually lost 514 (or 0.5%) jobs in the Professional and Business Services industry (North American Industry Classification System Code 1024).
Across the river, Fairfax County gained 10,939 jobs (5.2%) in that same industry. That is a stunning difference for two counties so geographically proximate and similar in many key respects. "
