I would have been happy with Moore or Perez, though I voted for Moore. Nice to have a choice among good candidates!

Voted for Perez. All in Moore now. I was leaning toward him but knew more about Perez. All good!

If Republicans had nominated Shulz instead of Cox, I think they would have held the governorship. That wont' happen now, since Cox is a pro-Trump nutjob, compared to the moderate that Shulz is. I'm not excited about Moore, but no way I'd vote for Cox (I'm an independent).

I think a lot of people were unhappy/uninterested in candidates who have been around a while and he is fresh face who manages to be attractive to some moderates and some liberals (maybe partly because he doesn’t have much of a record).

I looked at each candidate’s position on climate issues, and he was the most forward-leaning.

I voted for him because he is intelligent. I didn't pay any attention to the mailings and commercials. I researched every person running and Wes Moore impressed me the most. I value intelligence. I believe that intelligent people are able to view issues in many ways, from many perspectives. His website was easy to use and explained his position on the issues. If anyone can represent Marylanders, he can.

He’s not and that was a major issue.

He’s inspiring, and even more so to many who are tired of feeling not represented. I’d feel better if he had more political experience, but he’s done good things with his life — that are very much applicable to the job. I’m a nerd. I look at the quality of relevant experience, personality, and policies. I try to read at least some of the fine print. I think many of us have the simple hope that the people we vote to represent us will care about the needs of “people like me” — however we define that. While that is not sufficient to govern well, it is necessary.

Moore is accomplished and inspiring. I’m not clear that it makes sense to talk about his “base” since I believe it’s his first election. Also, people who vote in the primary elections are not necessarily all that similar to people who will vote for him in the general election against a specific—and, I think repugnant— opponent. If Moore wins AND runs again, and has an actual track record, then talking about his “base” of supporters might make more sense. In my mind, though, “base” suggests single issue voters, and/or personality “cult” voters, or voters who are extremely committed to one specific candidate, and that doesn’t seem at all descriptive of those who voted for Moore.

I didn’t vote for him in the primary, but it’s easy for me to understand why people did. I think each of the top Democratic candidates offered different things. None of them offered a “perfect” package. As with many elections, people voted based on their priorities.

You don’t understand why he was the projected winner?

This is what happened. Moore won with just 33.6% of the vote.
