DD is 14 and reads both YA and adult fiction. Here are some adult books I know she liked:

She also liked the teen version of Trevor Noah's Born a Crime.

For YA, there really is so much more good stuff out there than when we were teens. DD has loved everything she's read by Nic Stone (started with Dear Martin and then read them all.) Also, she seems to like mysteries that invove teen social drama. (Is that a sub-genre? LOL.) For example, has your DD tried anything by Karen McManus (One of Us Is Lying etc.)? Or the Inheritance Games series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes? (I think DD liked some of her other series, too).

+1 - I read so quickly and so often that I was excited to have a book that actually lasted me a few days. My mom bought me the first Outlander book one summer, which was really not that age appropriate, but I remember being excited to have something so long to read. Thornbirds was another one that I loved. Hawaii by James Michener was a dense read around that age and I really got into it and the history of Hawaii.

Thornbirds didn't age that well with all the Catholic priest abuse headlines later.

Will she read long novels? I know these are dated but when I was 13-15 I read some chunkers, like The Far Pavilions, Sarum, Thornbirds (although I guess that's romance, but it's not sex scenes), First Man in Rome, etc. I look back so fondly on those days when I had time to really sink into long books.

Guy Gavriel Kay does fictional history with a touch of fantasy. Sailing to Sarantium or Lions of Al Rassan are good examples.

If she liked Anxious People, try Remarkably Bright Creatures; it has a similar feel, IMO. I enjoyed both a lot.

Does she read sci fi? Becky Chamber or Arkady Martine (or a million other people— she could read left hand of darkness if she wanted).

My 14.5 year old feels like she's exhausted the young adult/teen area of the library.

She's not into torrid romance and sex scenes; though some romance is fine. Are there any interesting fiction novels your teen has read and enjoyed? Mine recently read "Anxious People" and "Have you Seen Luis Velez?"
