All this stuff is so personal. Our third is heaven. I enjoyed the experience of having 1 baby. It was totally different - a single full-term baby was SO different from preemie NICU twins. I'm so glad we did it.

I feel like this question is better posed as 'do I want 3 children'. There are plenty of singletons that have twins siblings and I have never known any of the ones I know to be bitter or something bc they are not a twin. They all have good relationships with their siblings, completely on par with singles relationships. So unless you are introducing them as 'these are my beautiful miracle twin babies' and this is my other kid. I think you are good. Honestly having 3 with one twin set, you only have to 'start over ' once. And having a single after twins will probably be a more pleasant less stressful experience!

I don't know if the gender is a coincidence but the only families I know where there is a poor relation ship between the twins and the singleton is when they are all girls. My best friend growing up was a twin and they had a sister who was two years older who always felt left out and now the older sister is basically estranged.

Same here. It has actually helped to have a third - the twins can branch out socially on the family and they aren’t thought of as a “twin family” - just a family of five.

I started thinking about this dynamic amongst the people I know. I have never met anyone with twins who went on to have a third. But I know lots of folks who had a singleton then went on to have twins.

I guess the twins-first dynamic settled it for those families.

I know someone who had IVF twins then had a 3rd with a leftover embryo. Then she had an oops pregnancy and now has 4. It appears to have worked out well for her, though of course shes busy and tired.

+1. I decided right around this age to let the baby nostalgia go (also the baby stuff, which was a factor as we were doing a renovation and purging stuff). Mine are 6 now (b/g) and it's so great. I'm really glad to have not had to "start over" with sleep training, potty training, juggling multiple nap schedules, etc.

Me again - meant to also add that I was really concerned about a 2nd set of twins.

+1
It gets better every year and I while I had the baby cravings too, I don't envy those twin +1 families

My boy/girl twins are 2.5. I’m on the fence about having another child - part of me really wants to but I worry about the possible dynamic with one younger feeling left out. Anyone out there made this choice (either way)? How did you decide?
