If I took Greyhound or Bolt or whatever cheap long-distance busses there are these days, yes—I would probably bathe in Purel.

But every time I take a DC Metro bus? No, or I’d be in the shower several times a day. I wash my hands before I eat. And I keep my hair—which is more than halfway down my back —wrapped over my shoulder, not because of germs but so it isn’t pressed against the back of my seat or in anyone’s way if they need to grab a seat handle. I don’t lean against the window. It’s summer, so bare arms and legs have probably come in contact with many weird & gross people and things! I don’t worry about it. But I do always look before I sit

Did I exert myself vigorously while attempting to stay upright holding onto one of the upper poles? I guess that could be a driver. Otherwise? No.

When I was a fulltime Metro commuter, the first thing I did when I got home was shower. It didn't matter if it was Summer or Winter, showering was the first thing I did.

My kid did a science fair project where he swabbed various surfaces in public, and the ones from the metro escalator handrails and metro rail bars in the cars grew some of the gnarliest looking cultures. The petri dish that grew the fewest cultures was the toilet seat of the men's room of a Starbucks.

Do you wash your hair after sitting in the waiting or exam room at your doctor's offie? After sitting in a booth in a restaurant? After accidentally brushing up against a display in a store? WTF, OP?

Should you shower if your hair and skin come into contact with bus surfaces?

This is a weird question. What if the bus is rarely or never disinfected and people with diseases who never shower, often spit and cough, and lie down on the streets ride the bus frequently?
